The largest lakes in Odesa are awaiting a large-scale restocking
In Yalpug-Kugurлуй, 3 million juvenile fish-ameliorators will be released, and a tender has been announced for the purchase of almost 7 tons of fish for the Dnister lagoon. The restocking aims to restore the ecological balance of the lakes, which are suffering from climate change and vegetation growth.
The largest lakes in Odesa, Yalpug and Kugurлуй, are awaiting a large-scale restocking. The user enterprise, REPIDA LLC, will release 3 million juvenile fish into the waters, including carp, white amur, and perch/bass.
The restocking aims to restore the ecological balance of the lakes, which are suffering from climate change and shallow waters, leading to active water bloom and vegetation growth. The carp feeds on microscopic algae, preventing "blooming" of the water, while the white amur eats hard aquatic plants, cleaning the bottom and channels.
The process of unloading the fish is taking place on specially prepared deep-water areas under strict control by a special commission, which includes representatives of the Izmail District Administration, the Odesa Fisheries Patrol, the State Environmental Inspection, and the State Consumer Protection Service. The accounting of biological resources is carried out using a "standard" method – control weighing and recalculation of batches, which ensures complete transparency of the process.
In addition, a tender was announced on the Prozorro system on October 13 for the procurement and release of young fish into the Dnister Lagoon. It is planned to release 6 935 kg of young fish, including carp, perch, and white amur. The auction will take place on October 30.
