Illegal fishing of the вырезуба fish in Odesa poses a threat of a fine of 10 thousand Ukrainian hryvnias.

In the Odesa region, the illegal catch of the rare fish, the "vyreza," which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, is punishable by compensation of 10 thousand hryvnias per individual. Depending on the circumstances, criminal liability may also apply. The fisheries patrol reminds people of the need to comply with fishing regulations.

In the Odesa region, efforts have been increased to monitor and control the fishing of rare fish species, including the Black Sea bream, which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. This fish was previously a target of industrial fishing, but the decline in its population has led to the need for increased protection.

The Virezub can be identified by its elongated body, large head, and strong gill rakers, which help it feed on solid food organisms. Illegal fishing of this fish is prohibited, and a compensation of 10 thousand hryvnias is provided for each caught individual to the fisheries.

The fisheries patrol emphasizes that the stated amount is the compensation for damages, not the cost of the fish or a fine. Depending on the circumstances of the violation, other measures of responsibility may also be applied, including criminal liability under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In addition, anglers must comply with the Rules for amateur fishing, including requirements regarding permitted fishing gear, locations, and times, as well as the minimum size of aquatic biological resources.
