Odesa schools to receive weapon models for training
A tender has been announced in the Kyiv district of Odesa for the purchase of weapon models worth approximately 1,4 million UAH. The plan is to purchase "Fort-20" pistols, AR-15 carbines, and AK-74 automatic rifles, along with training ammunition. The purchase is part of a reform of the "Patriotism" subject for high school students.
The schools in the Kyiv district of Odesa are planning to purchase weapon models for educational purposes. A tender has been announced for the purchase of 20 units, including two "Fort-20" pistols, nine American semi-automatic AR-15 rifles, and nine AK-74 assault rifles. Two magazines with 30 training rounds should be included with each assault rifle.
The estimated total cost of the purchase is approximately 1,4 million hryvnias. It is noted that these are large-scale models that mimic military weapons in appearance and weight, but are not intended for firing. The cost of these items is comparable to that of real weapons.
According to military observer Viktor Bosniak, the models are most often made using real weapons, which are then rendered unusable for firing. These purchases are part of a large-scale reform of the "Defense of the Fatherland" program, which replaced the outdated "pre-enlistment training" after the start of the full-scale war. Now, the focus is on modern realities of war, including teaching high school students basic tactics, providing first aid, and operating FPV drones.
