Metal detectors installed at the entrance to the session hall of the Odesa city council

Visitors now need to pass through metal detectors before entering the hall. The city council explained the installation of the equipment as a security measure, but did not specify why it was installed now.

The Odesa city council has introduced visitor checks using metal detectors. Visitors must pass through the detectors before entering the session hall.

Natalia Maltseva, the city council's press secretary, explained that the equipment was installed for security purposes. However, the city council did not disclose why this decision was made now. The reason for the additional control remains unclear.

Fixed metal detectors can detect metal objects on a person's body without contact. They can help to find weapons or other prohibited metal items. Such systems are used in places with a large number of people, such as airports, ships, shopping centers, educational institutions, and administrative buildings.

In Odesa, changes have also been prepared to the municipal target program "Safe City of Odesa," which covers the period 2020–2028. The proposals relate to the composition of performers and adapting measures to the wartime situation. Funding is planned to remain at almost 4 billion hryvnias.

The main goals of the program remain public safety, the development of video surveillance and video analytics, as well as the application of modern solutions for responding to emergencies.
