Backup power for water and heating in Odesa: what were the announcements from utility companies
"Infokovodokan" has prepared 45 generators for key facilities. Petro Obukhov believes the city is better prepared, but warns that the course of the season will depend on Russian attacks.
Council member Petro Obukhov of the Odesa city council received responses to his inquiries regarding backup power supply from the "Odesa City Heat Supply" enterprise and the "Infovodokanal" branch. The issue concerned the operation of water supply and heating during prolonged power outages.
The response from КП «ТМО» states that backup power sources are available at approximately 213 out of 218 facilities. The response also provides an availability indicator – almost 92%. "Інфоксводоканал" reported about 45 backup power sources for key pumping stations and other facilities.
According to Oukhov, Odesa is better prepared for outages than last year. However, the deputy noted that generators will not solve all problems if Russian troops continue to attack energy infrastructure with ballistic missiles. If the intensity of attacks is approximately the same as last year, he sees a chance to get through the heating season much more easily.
Uncertainty remains regarding the Odesa TPP, which provides heating for the central part of the city. Following the mass attack in August, information about the current status of the station and the progress of its restoration has been kept confidential for security reasons.
The funding for the municipal enterprise "TMO" and the quantity of equipment for autonomous heat and electricity production, which is already installed and ready to operate in various areas of Odesa, are also open questions. The municipal authorities have not yet provided comprehensive answers regarding these issues.
