The Odesa city council has announced a tender for waste analysis services, with a total value of 1,25 million hryvnias. According to the tender documents, the contractor must collect samples of waste from various districts of the city, both in multi-story buildings and in private residential areas, on different days of the week and throughout the year.

Hundreds of kilograms of waste will be manually sorted by specialists into fractions: paper, plastic, glass, metal, food waste, textiles, rubber, and wood, as well as hazardous substances. Each fraction will be weighed on certified scales. The moisture content, combustibility, and lower heating value of the waste will also be determined.

The Department of Ecology of the Odesa City Council noted that a similar analysis was last conducted in 2018 year. The new report will serve as the basis for updating the Regional Waste Management Plan. In addition, the research is related to plans for the construction of a waste-to-energy plant with a capacity of 12 MW of electrical and 40 MW of thermal energy in the Peryspsky district of Odesa. The total cost of the project, including a modern sorting line, is estimated at 14,5 billion hryvnias.

The contractor must provide a detailed report with schedules and tables regarding the energy potential of Odesa waste by December 15 2027.
