In Odesa, a conscript lost a court case regarding the military medical commission's decision on his fitness for service.

The Odesa Regional Administrative Court rejected a lawsuit filed by a conscript who was attempting to challenge a decision by the regional military medical commission, which had determined that he was fit for service in non-combat roles. The court ruled that the regional military medical commission's decision to conduct a repeat review of the man's medical documents was justified, as the commission had initially found him completely unfit for service due to his health condition.

The Odesa Regional Administrative Court on October 21 rejected a lawsuit filed by a conscript who was challenging a decision by the regional military medical commission (VMLK) to declare him fit for service in non-combat roles. The man, who was diagnosed with hypertension, ischemic heart disease, and spondylarthritis in February 2025, argued that the regional VMLK had acted beyond its authority by changing his status without conducting a repeat medical examination.

However, the court noted that regional health authorities have the legal right to review and overturn decisions made by local commissions. Furthermore, during wartime, reviews of decisions regarding medical unfitness based on medical documents can be conducted without a repeat examination. The court also pointed out that the initial decision, which was not approved by a higher-level commission, does not automatically mean the person is removed from the registry.

In February 2025 year, the district Military Medical Commission (VMLK) ruled that the man was completely unfit for military service, excluding him from the register. However, the regional VMLK, after reviewing the materials, determined that the conclusion of complete unfitness was unjustified, after examining medical documents from the Odesa regional clinical hospital. In October 2025 year, the district VMLK, based on the recommendations of the higher authority, issued a new document, recognizing the applicant as fit for service in parts related to supply, the Territorial Defense Forces (TTC), training centers, and logistics units.
